Woodrow “Woody” Ford, 92, of Grayville, Illinois, died Thursday, November 29, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. He was born Aril 10, 1920, in Benton, Kentucky, the son of George and Ethel (Barker) Ford. He married Loretta (Henson) Ford on April 6, 1940, and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2005.
Woody was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grayville, a World War II Navy veteran, and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He worked as an oilfield pumper in the Grayville area.
Survivors include a son, Tony Ford of Grayville; daughters JoAnn (Herman) Lovett of Benton, KY, Betty (Joe) Bisch, and Miranda (Rodney) Groff, all of Grayville; brother Herman (Fannie) Ford of Marshall County, KY; sisters Juanita West and Shirley Jackson, all of Marshall County, KY; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step mother Ruby; daughter in law Linda Ford; great grandson Reed Kelsey; borthers Randolph, Namon, Rossie and Gene; and sisters Claudine Penny and Dorothy Ford.
Visitation and funeral is Sunday, December 2, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 3 pm and funeral is at 6 pm. Military rites will be conducted on the funeral chapel parking lot following the funeral.
Woody will be transported to Filbeck, Cann and King Funeral Home in Benton, KY, for a visitation and graveside service on Monday, December 3. Visitation in Benton is at noon with the graveside service at 2 pm at the Benton, KY Cemetery.
