William C. “Billy” Terrell, 56, of Grayville, Illinois, died Monday, May 22, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born July 30, 1966, in Carmi, Illinois, the son of William and Wanda Mae (Houck) Terrell. He was married to Deborah S. (Higgins) Terrell on September 3, 1996, and she survives.
Billy graduated from Grayville High School in 1984, and studied at Frontier Community College in 1997 where he attained his EMT-B certification. He worked in the Illinois Basin oil fields until 1995, when he went to work in a factory owned by Collis Company in Evansville, Indiana. His most recent work was for Duke Energy from 2019 to present. He was a Christian and a member of the Sheba #200 Masonic Lodge in Grayville. Working with his father in the oil business and being with his wife, daughter and friends were his favorite things. He incorporated his love for music and woodworking by building guitars with his father, and playing the bass guitar. He also enjoyed working on cars, welding, and helping others. He was a family man.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Terrell of Grayville; daughter Wendi Gail Terrell of Grayville; cousins, whom he considered brothers, Jeff K. Tice of Canton, Ohio, Jeff E. (Shelly) Osborne of Grayville; aunt, whom he considered a 2nd mother, Dorothy Jo (Ray) Marks; uncles and aunts George (G.G.) Houck, Bill (Dashie) Houck, Hank (Pat) Houck, and numerous other aunts and uncles on the Terrell side of the family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Wanda Terrell; sister Wendi Marian Terrell; cousin/brother Greg A. Tice.
Visitation and funeral are Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois. Visitation is 1-3 pm, and funeral is at 3 pm. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel.
