Former Carmi, Illinois, resident, Thelma J. Kallenbach, 96, passed away early Thursday, June 15, 2023, at North River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana. She was born November 19, 1926, in Beaver Creek Township, Hamilton County, Illinois, the oldest daughter of Russell Clyde York and Lena Opal (Gowdy) York. She was married to Marion E. Kallenbach on October 27, 1955, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2011.
Thelma was salutatorian of the Class of 1944 at McLeansboro High School, and she was a graduate of Rubicam Business School in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of Wabash Chapter of NSDAR, and former member of Beta Sigma Phi, Home Culture Circle, White County Genealogical Society, and the White County Historical Society.
Survivors include daughter Cindy (Tom) Kiehl of Evansville, Indiana; cousins; and many friends at North River Health Campus.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister Darlene York.
Graveside service is at 11 am, Monday, June 19, 2023, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.
