Kirke Bergen Muse, 87, of Carmi, Illinois, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the home of friends in Evansville, Indiana. He was born May 22, 1934, in LaGrange, Kentucky, the son of Dorsey and Kathleen (Bergen) Muse.

He was a retired music teacher and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed playing his French horn, and taking care of his dogs and horses.

Survivors include his step-mother, Betty Brown of Carmi; daughters Leah Kay Dowling of Wasilla, Alaska, Keri Brooke (Mickey) Meszaros of Anchorage, Alaska, Chelsea Kathleen Muse of Atlanta, Georgia; half-brother Tom Muse of Carmi; and several grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and half-brother David Muse.

In keeping with Kirke’s wishes, his remains were cremated with no services.

Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.

    He shot with us at Carmi Rifle Club for a few years. He shot amazingly well for a man of his age.
    He had a quick wit and kept me on my toes when we would verbally spar! He will be missed and not soon forgotten!
