Johnnie G. Sturm, 73, of Grayville, Illinois, died Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born November 6, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Willard J. Sturm and Helen J. (Ramming) Sturm.

Johnnie was radio dispatcher for the Grayville Police for over 42 years. He also served with the Little Wabash Fire Protection District and the Grayville Ambulance Service. He also previously served as road commissioner and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Johnnie enjoyed telling stories, fishing, heavy equipment, and farming.

Survivors include sons Eddie Lee (Jenni) Sturm, Christopher Lynn (Melissa) Sturm, all of Franklin, Kentucky; sister Beverly J. (Don) Davenport of Watertown, Wisconsin; grandchildren Brooke (Josh) Cochran, Selena Castillo, Erin Nichole Shelton, Chase Alan Sturm, Kynlee Shelton, and Wyatt Sturm; great-grandchildren Amiyah Russell, Maddax Cochran; nephew Keith (Diane) Davenport; and special friends Kellie Howard and Kenny Henshaw.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Eddie Lynn Sturm.

Visitation and funeral are Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 9 am and funeral is at 11 am. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Little Wabash Fire Protection District and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois.
