Janice Kay Carrell, 67, of Grayville, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born March 19, 1952, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of James Prince and Sarah Meeler. She married Michael W. Carrell on November 9, 1974, and he survives.

Janice was retired from Champion Laboratories in Albion, Illinois. She was always up for telling jokes and tall stories. No one was a stranger to her. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crafting Christmas ornaments. Her grandchildren were her main pride and joy.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Carrell of Grayville; son Paul (Bettina) Carrell of West Salem, Illinois; daughter Kristi (Pete) Garza of Grayville; brother James R. โ€œJ.R.โ€ Prince of Crossville, Illinois; grandchildren Austin Hamilton-Garza, Cordero Garza, Jacob Carrell, Makayla Carrell, John Carrell, Aaron Carrell.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Ernie and Mary Sturm; and special aunt Natalie Sturm.

Visitation is 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Funeral is 10 am, Friday, March 13, 2020, at Cook Funeral Chapel with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.

Memorials may be made to Grayville Senior Center and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.

    I can see Janice sitting at the swimming pool teaching girl scouts for many years just being a great friend to many friends. She will be missed. Rest in peace my friend Janice!
