Ann E. Watts, 87, of Carmi, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born September 6, 1933, in Phillipstown, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest Eugene Rogers and Viola (Benton) Rogers.

Ann was a retired nursing assistant and a member of the Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi. She enjoyed reading, sewing and following the careers of Tiger Wood and Dale Earnhardt. Her work career included working at the Carmi Township Hospital and later Welborn Hospital, from where she retired. In her retirement, she ran a cleaning service in the evenings.

Survivors include sons Steve (Sharon) Samson, Mark (Debra) Smithpeters, all of Carmi; grandchildren Alden (Mary) Hutchison and Amy Degenhardt; great grandchildren Sophia Hutchison, Peter Hutchison, Ava Hutchison, Eli Degenhardt, and Madison Degenhardt.

Graveside service is 11 am, Saturday, September 19, 2020, at White County Memorial Gardens west of Carmi.

Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.

  2. I’m sorry for your loss. Ann & I have been friends for years. I knew her because she was a friend of my daddy’s, Cletus Duke! He knew everyone and it has flowed over on me. Ann was one of my favorite “Avon” customer’s and I always took time to visit with her. She will be love & missed by me & many others. My sympathy & prayers to all of you.

  3. I use to go to church with Ann in Carmi. She was always so happy to be at church. I loved listening to her stories and her blunt personality. Wonderful woman!
