Richard Ray Wood, 73, of Grayville, IL, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. He was born June 6, 1940, in Albion, IL, the son of Ray and Lulu (Bassett) Wood. He was married to Mary Kay Reid and she survives.
Richard worked as a supervisor for 25 years at Pacific Shear and Press in Mt. Carmel, IL, and later drove a truck for five years. He was a Navy veteran and past member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay Wood; sons Rick (Cathy) Wood and Randy Wood, all of Grayville; brothers Edward and Steven Nading, both of Townsend, GA; sisters in law Fay Wood of Albion and Marge Wood of Fairfield, IL; sisters Rosemary (Gene) Allen of Mt. Carmel, Patricia (Frederico) Nava of Crossville, IL, Sherril Brown of Townsend, Zelma (Stuart) Marks of Bridgeport, IL; grandchildren Sgt. Kyle (Brandie) Wood, Stevie Higgins, Alisha Wood, Marisa Wood, Steven Anderson; great grandchildren Lily, Isabella and Ellie; and his loving dog Coco.
He is preceded in death by parents Ray and Lulu Wood; step parents Lee Nading and Bernice Wood; brothers Roy Wood, Ted Wood and James Nading.
Visitation and funeral are Wednesday, July 31 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 11 am and funeral is at 1 pm. Burial with military rites will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
